I've been wanting to do reviews for these lipsticks but wasn't sure how to go about it. Generally, I don’t purchase multiple lipsticks from one range or brand, especially when they are more expensive. I start by trying one lipstick to see if I like the formula and then decide if I want to purchase other colors. So even though I haven’t tried other colors from these particular ranges, I still wanted to do reviews on these lipsticks in case anyone was interested in them.
Buxom Full Bodied Lipstick in “Nudist”: This lipstick is so incredibly creamy, moisturizing and very lightweight. It also has pretty good pigmentation and a high sheen to it. Since it’s so creamy and has a shine it doesn't settle as much into the lines on my lips so it leaves a smooth appearance which I love. This is really pretty nude color that looks like it has a hint of pink and is warmer toned compared to the Too Faced lipstick below. It’s supposed to have a plumping effect but I don’t notice that at all. I don’t feel this has the greatest longevity but it’s still pretty good. Even though this formula doesn't last as long as others do on me, I’d still purchase more and recommend checking these lipsticks out.
Too Faced La Crème Lipstick in “Naked Dolly”: This is another very creamy, moisturizing and lightweight lipstick. It has great pigmentation but it’s not as opaque as the Buxom lipstick. It’s not completely sheer but it does take a few coats to cover the color of your natural lips. This also doesn't have as much shine as the Buxom but it’s not matte by any means. Since this is creamy and moisturizing it leaves a nice smooth finish as well. The color is a medium cool toned pink that looks quite natural. This lipstick doesn't last quite all day but it lasts for a good amount of the day; probably longer than the Buxom lipstick. Overall, I absolutely love this formula and will definitely be purchasing more colors.
Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in “Melondrama”: I’ll admit I wasn't sure how much I would like this because the color was bolder than anything I had tried before. This claims to be a soft peach color but I don’t consider this color “soft” or “peach” at all. I consider “soft” to be similar to “muted” and I just feel this color is quite vivid. It’s not super intense or neon but it is quite bright. I also feel this color leans more towards being an orange rather than peach. Anyways, I ended up falling in love with this color! Even though it’s bright, it’s still very wearable without being too over the top. The formula is quite creamy and leaves a smooth finish. It also has great pigmentation, is somewhat opaque and has a nice sheen. This also lasts for a pretty long time. Overall this is another great formula to try out.
It’s not really surprising that each formula is great. When you pay more money you’re generally paying for better ingredients. Keep in mind, Everyone’s skin tone is different as well as their lip color so the colors will vary from person to person. For this reason, going to a place like Sephora, where they have testers of each product, is great to see what color works best for your skin tone. Once you know which color tone looks good, keep that in mind when shopping for drugstore brands. Since I can’t test out drugstore products as easily, I’ll check colors at Sephora to help give me an idea of what color to look for in a cheaper priced item. It’s a nice trick to keep in mind when you want to try something new but don’t want to spend a lot of money. That way, if you end up not liking the outcome you won’t be as upset because you didn't spend a lot of money. Thanks for reading and hopefully these reviews were helpful!
