I’m not sure about you but I can have a real problem with dry lips sometimes. It can be really frustrating, especially since I always try to drink plenty of water, exfoliate and apply lip balm regularly. Sometimes it just seems like it’s never enough and no matter what I do, my lips just don’t look as healthy as I want them too. I’ve used some stuff in the past that has been really nice but I wanted to try something new. I came across this product online and saw that it’s a “soothing, leave-on mask meant to replenish moisture in lips”. This sounded pretty promising and the product had a lot of great reviews so I purchased it and have been using it for the past few months. I usually use the Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm in Quenched (I love that it has an SPF 20 to protect my lips) or the Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla and Macadamia Kiss throughout the day. I love both these products because they do in fact help to moisturize my lips but I wanted something a little more heavy duty; a product that would penetrate deep into my skin and nourish my lips from the inside out. I had high hopes that this product would do just that and while it did have some nice qualities, I’m not so sure it’s really worth the hype that I read about.
This lip mask has a very thick consistency but it goes on very smoothly. A little can go a long way which is nice since this product costs $26. This formula can feel a tiny bit tacky sometimes but for the most part it’s actually very silky and adds a nice shine. If my lips are looking dry and cracked this product makes them look instantly healthy and moisturized. Applying this product really does make my lips look nourished, smooth and healthy as soon as I apply it and even lasts for quite a few hours. However, it doesn’t actually provide any long term benefits. I wasn’t expecting this to be a sort of “miracle worker” but I was expecting this product to nourish a lot more than what it does. While it’s on my lips, it offers slightly better results than the other lip balm formulas but it does nothing beyond that. I still have to apply this multiple times a day to keep my lips nourished and looking healthy.
Overall, this was in fact a really nice lip product because it did hydrate my lips and make them look healthier. However, it was only when the product was actually on my lips and didn’t provide long term benefits like I was hoping. The other, cheaper lip balms pretty much do the same thing and are a fraction of the cost. Based on my experience with this product I wouldn’t really recommend it because it just doesn’t seem to be worth the money. If it were cheaper then perhaps I would recommend it. I’ve used another product on my lips that’s called Surgeon’s Skin Secret. It’s a beeswax-based moisturizer that you can use anywhere on your body that is dry. I purchase the set that has two 2.5oz twist-up sticks for about $30 (I purchase mine from QVC.com). These will last me almost 3 years depending on how much and how often I’m using it. This formula truly nourishes my skin and keeps my skin nourished longer than any other product so far. Therefore, I wouldn’t repurchase the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. I’ll just stick to what I have and would highly recommend checking out the Surgeon’s Skin Secret. They do have actual lip products but I haven’t tried them. I prefer the sticks because I can use them anywhere and not just on my lips.
