My June Ipsy Bag: The Balm, NYX, Skone Cosmetics and more!

Last month I wrote a post on my first Ipsy Glam Bag and gave mini reviews for each of the products I received. The time has come now for my second bag, and just like the first, I was super excited to try out these items. All of the items are new to me but some I am more familiar with than others. There was even a hair product this time so I was really curious about trying that out. To see what items I received last month then check out that post by clicking HERE. Otherwise, keep on reading to find out more about what items I received this month and my thoughts on them.

This month’s bag is super cute. It’s a cloth bag, unlike last month’s bag which was plastic (but cute!). This one is black around the outer edges and in the center is beige with white polka dots. Then it has giant lips in the very center. It’s a nice size bag that isn’t too big or small. You can fit a nice amount of products in here and place in your handbag for touchups later in the day. Overall I really like it and its well made.

First up is a blush from The Balm. This blush is their Balm Springs blush which is described as an earthy rose color and cost $21 for the full size. I love the color of this blush because it’s a very soft natural looking color. It’s the perfect color for just about any makeup look. It has great pigmentation, goes on really smoothly and blends easily. I have tried a few other blushes from The Balm that I really like as well so I knew this one would be no different. This blush also lasts all day with little to no fading.

Next item is the Chia Curl 5-in-1 Defining Curl Cream by Trissola. I believe this product cost around $29 for the full size. This product is meant to help with curl retention, shine, conditioning, definition and frizz control. I’m a bit on the fence with this product. I’ve tried it about four times now and the first two times I wasn’t impressed at all. It didn’t seem to do anything the first few times but the next two times I used a little more product and was happier with the results. The third time I used it, I loved it but the last time I used it, it was just ok. This did help to define my waves/curls and leave them bouncy with a little less frizz. I didn’t notice any shine and my hair didn’t feel anymore conditioned than normal, however my hair is hardly damaged if even at all so maybe that’s why. It’s not a bad product but since it’s been a little inconsistent with the results I’m not blown away by it.

Another item I received is an eyeshadow by the brand City Color Cosmetics and it’s in the shade Beach Cottage. It’s a gorgeous turquois color with gold flecks throughout and costs about $6.99. When I first saw this I fell in love with the color. This swatches beautifully and applies great with a brush. This has great pigmentation and is quite opaque. The formula is very smooth and creamy so it applies easily and blends out like a dream. This color lasts quite well throughout the day with little to no fading and doesn’t crease.

Next up is a lip and cheek tint from NYX that cost $5.99. I actually have two of these in other colors (Coral-Sicle and Pink Cloud) and I love them. The color I received in my bag is Cocoa Bean which is a medium brown with pink undertones. I love this formula because it’s so soft, creamy, lightweight and blends out super easily. It’s quite pigmented so I apply about 3 dots on my cheeks then blend it out with my fingers. I recommend applying a small amount and building up the color. This product has a doe-foot applicator so it’s really easy to apply. The color even dries down so it doesn’t feel tacky on the skin. I still prefer to put a little powder on top anyways but I feel even if you don’t it still seems to last pretty well.

Lastly, I received a liquid liner by the brand Skone Cosmetics. It’s their Insanely Intense Tattooed Eyeliner in Jet Black. This liquid liner comes with a felt tip applicator and costs $20. I was amazed when I first swatched this liner. It is so insanely pigmented and opaque. It also glides on so effortlessly that I could hardly feel it on my skin. Once it dries down it does not budge. This liner is meant to be waterproof and smudge proof. I will say, if you were to get this liner wet and rub your eyes then it does smear and come off a little bit but it doesn’t run down your cheeks or anything. As long as you don’t rub your eyes if they get wet, this will not move. However, even if you do rub your eyes it still takes a lot of rubbing to get it to come off. I know in the swatch it looks like it bleeds but if you prime your eyelids and set with a powder before applying, this doesn’t bleed. It’s also super easy to remove with a makeup remover.

Overall I am again pretty happy with the products I received this month. I was familiar with a few of the brands but most I had never heard of before. I love the eyeshadow color and formula. I also love the liner and even though I don’t usually wear liquid liner, the formula for this one is so incredible that I want to wear it all the time. My least favorite product is probably the curl cream but it isn’t a terrible product. I just feel like I’ve tried other products that work better and some even costs way less so I prefer them over this one. Hope you found this post enjoyable and keep an eye out in the future for more reviews on products that I get in my Ipsy bags!
