Maybelline Fit Me Powder Review

For a few months now I’ve been trying to find a new setting powder. I’ve tried some affordable powders and some that are not as affordable. While some of them weren’t terrible I still wasn’t completely happy for one reason or another. I decided to give this Maybelline Fit Me powder a try since I’ve heard and read a lot of great reviews. I like that this powder is affordable and you get a decent amount as well, but I knew that didn’t mean it would necessarily be good. However, I did end up being pleasantly surprised…

First, I’ll start with the pros…I purchased the color Fair and it’s a really good match for my skin right now and doesn’t alter the color of my foundation so I’m happy about that. I don’t notice any flashback problems in photos, which I wasn’t worried about anyways but just thought I’d mention. The powder feels very lightweight on my skin and doesn’t look heavy or cakey. Sometimes it can look powdery but that really just depends on how much I use and if I use too much a setting spray fixes that problem. This powder does a great job at setting my foundation so that it feels dry and not tacky. I don’t have very oily skin but after about 8 hours my skin can start to look somewhat oily and this powder does a pretty good job at keeping my makeup looking fresh throughout most of the day.
Now, some of the cons….this can sometimes cling to dry areas. It’s not as bad as another powder I’ve tried but it can happen.  This powder also doesn’t prevent creasing in certain areas. I can still have some minor creasing under my eyes and even around my mouth (the smiles lines). Again, it’s not horrible but this powder doesn’t completely prevent that. Lastly, I feel the packaging is a bit bulky, probably because it’s shaped like a square instead of a circle. It did bother me at first but not so much now.

Overall I am quite happy with this powder. I’m not sure how much I will like it during the summer since my skin can become a bit oilier and I feel like this powder may not hold up well. I don’t know if I would recommend this for people who have very oily skin or even people with very dry skin. I think it is good for people with slightly dry, normal and slightly oily skin. If you are at the more extreme end of the spectrum then it may not work. I can’t really say whether it would be good or not for textured skin. This doesn’t emphasize my pores but I also don’t have a problem with pores and I have relatively smooth skin.  Again, overall I am happy with this powder and would repurchase it but that doesn’t mean I won’t try new powders if I feel something else might work better. For the results and price though, it’s a very nice powder.
